Opportunities for Flash Developers
The QNX CAR application platform creates a whole new set of business opportunities for Adobe Flash developers and content companies based on developing apps for in-car systems.
Because its underlying HMI framework is based on Adobe Flash technology, the platform supports any native Flash (ActionScript 2) application. Several online market leaders have already taken this ‘drop and run’ approach to porting their applications to the vehicle:
- Atlantic Records
- Kabillion
- Pandora
- Chumby Industries
- TuneWiki
These companies and others have also benefitted from the HMI framework’s skinning support, which allows developers to reskin apps without programming – ideal for multiple-customer situations.
Another advantage of the QNX CAR application platform is a unified graphics architecture that seamlessly merges different environments. Flash developers can therefore easily create HMIs that include 2D and 3D graphics along with OpenGL ES and others.
Join the QNX developer community
QNX Software Systems has a community portal called Foundry27. The HMI framework project on the portal is currently open only to QNX CAR application platform participants. We will, however, open it to Flash developers and content companies shortly. Register now to be among the first to develop apps for this exciting new platform.
