QNX Strategic Partners

Starting with a single design win in 2000 for a next-generation telematics platform, Renesas has become a valued partner in the QNX automotive ecosystem. The companies have built a solid alliance, with joint initiatives reaching from North America to Europe and Asia.
QNX and Renesas collaborate for joint success in radio, infotainment, navigation, telematics and hands free devices for the automotive market. The two companies work closely on product planning, customer support and hardware optimizations, as well as software and middleware components design.
In 2007, the companies will mark a partnership milestone. New QNX products such as the QNX Aviage media suite and acoustic processing solutions will include support for next generation SH processors. Similarly, Renesas commits to design and optimize their latest automotive hardware with QNX in mind.
Additionally, the companies will have the opportunity to cooperate on Renesas's line of multicore processors for automotive, leveraging QNX's decade of experience with multicore software into a new market segment for this technology.
COMET and SH-Navi
In 2002, Renesas founded COMET™, the Community for Enabling Telematics. QNX was the first vendor selected for the alliance, which allows Renesas and member companies to deliver comprehensive, vertically integrated development solutions to engineers designing telematics and Car Infotainment System (CIS) products.
After joint success with the COMET initiative, QNX and Renesas expanded efforts in Japan with the launch of the SHNavi Consortium in 2005 targeting navigation and infotainment products for high end vehicles.
