Overview

In addition to the usual software delivery challenges of cost, features and schedules, industrial and medical device manufacturers must contend with specifying and validating their products’ functional safety, usually with the demanding goal of achieving certification by regulatory agencies.

Designing a functionally safe solution adds new requirements in various stages of product development. Special attention on functional safety at earlier stages of development will have the greatest impact, beginning with the critical step of selecting the right hardware and OS platform as a solid foundation. Freescale and QNX together deliver proven silicon, systems, software and services solutions to support the growing demand for functional safety standards such as IEC 61508. During this presentation, Freescale and QNX will share their insights and knowledge on the challenges, considerations, best practices and proven solutions for maximizing your chance of successful safety certification.

Attendees will learn about:

Estimated length: 1 hour, including Q & A.

Who should attend: Safety experts; functional safety managers; quality managers; process managers; software architects; software developers who are working for companies with legacy software in their safety-critical applications that require certification.
